Credentials & Experience

I received my Bachelor of Science degree at Springfield College, in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1968 and my Master of Social Work degree from California State University in Fresno in 1971.

I am Board Certified in Clinical Social Work by the American Board of Examiners in Clinical Social Work and a member of the Society for Clinical Social Work, National Association of Social Workers, and California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. I am a provider for numerous insurance companies and managed care organizations that include, Aetna, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, United Behavioral Health, Health Net, Magellan Behavioral Health, and Value Options.

I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 1976 and have worked in a variety of mental health settings which include a residential treatment center for children and community based mental health services.

I have taught extension classes at UC Santa Cruz, Cabrillo College, Santa Clara University, Boston University School of Social Work, Tulane University School of Social Work, and Southern Connecticut State University. I am a Continuing Education Provider for the California Board of Behavioral Sciences and Registered Nurses.

I have presented workshops in London, England and at professional conferences such as California State Conference for Marriage and Family Therapist and have offered an online course entitled Healing the Unmothered Child for Webofed.com.

In 1997 I co-produced a video entitled "Mothers & Daughters…The Tie That Bonds", a multicultural and generational documentary that explores through interviews the many aspects of the mother daughter relationship. Viewers see models of healthy, loving relationships, as well as complex and difficult ones- and options for resolving core issues.

I have written a book about mothers and daughters entitled Healing the Unmothered Child which is in search of a publisher. My book is based on my own experience as well as my clients'. It examines the mother daughter relationship, how it is supposed to be in a perfect world, how to make peace with the reality of one’s own experience, and how to move on to mothering ourselves kindly.
